Before & After School Activities

Fruit on Tree

Village Elementary academics extend to before and after the instructional day.

Our before and after care school enrichment activities are funded through the Coronado Schools Foundation (CSF) and our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO).  Students have several opportunities to further their learning in different before and after school activities. All of these activities are directly supported by the STEAM Program (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math). STEAM funding comes from the Coronado Schools Foundation (CSF) and the generous contributions of our parents and community.

Robotics is composed of K-5th graders. Each team is selected from a pool of students who have attended the information night, whose parents have signed permission slips, and who have committed to the team. Each team learns about the basics of robotics as well as how to work as a team and how to follow instructions. Fifth grade teams have the opportunity to compete with other schools in the county. The team builds a robot and then must complete various tasks using the robot.  Session fee of $150 includes 8 weekly meetings. To be included in the participant lottery please send your Student’s name and grade level via email to Lenise Romberger and Abby Lund: Deadline for inclusion in lottery: Thursday 9/3 at 6PM

 Math Olympiads

The Math Olympiads is a group for 4th and 5th grade students who are high achievers in math and who are interested in taking their skills further. These students are often the type who can think outside of the box in problem-based learning activities. A recent challenge given to the group was to set up a road trip. They were tasked with creating a master plan that included a route, how many miles would be traveled, where they were staying, what vehicles would be needed, how much gas would be required, how food would be worked out, and the budget for the entire trip. At the end of each academic year the group holds an awards ceremony highlighting the work and learning the group completed.

Beginning Band

We are excited to be offering beginning band to 4th and 5th graders! Students have chosen their instruments which include the flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, and percussion. Instruments are available to be rented or purchased from several local music stores. We will meet two days a week starting in January 2016 and will be performing a spring concert in May for all to attend!

Monart is an after school drawing class that is available at Village Elementary!  Come join in the fun of artistic expression in a comfortable and non-competitive environment!  Your child will be under the guidance of a certified MONART instructor.
