Parents of CMS and Village Elementary are invited to a free workshop to learn more about how to make your child’s travel to school more safe.  The December 8th workshop at CMS Granzer Hall at 5:30 PM is designed to help parents serve as role models and teach their children safe biking and walking practices. Topics to be covered include safe walking and biking habits, laws for walking and biking in Coronado, and helmet fitting, bicycle maintenance, and security.

The City of Coronado is fortunate to receive a grant from Safe Routes to School Education Project, and together with the Coronado Unified School District, Circulate San Diego, and the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition, work has begun on a two-year implementation to support  student safety throughout Coronado.

Specific topics to be covered include:

  • Safe walking and biking habits and behaviors for elementary school and middle school students
  • How to select a safe route to school
  • Laws and policies for walking and biking in Coronado
  • Helmet fitting, bicycle maintenance, and security
