Before & After School Activities

Fruit on Tree

Village Elementary academics extend to before and after the instructional day.

Our before and after care school activities are funded through the Coronado Schools Foundation (CSF) and our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO).  Students have several opportunities to further their learning in different before and after school activities. All of these activities are directly supported by the STEAM Program (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math). STEAM funding comes from the Coronado Schools Foundation (CSF) and the generous contributions of our parents and community.

2019-20 Village STEAM Lego Club & Robotics

Village STEAM Lego Club is offered to K-5th graders.  Our club provides STEAM exposure through hands-on, project-based learning using LEGO bricks and other tools.  Students work in teams of two to develop collaboration and communication skills.  Four separate club groups provide age-appropriate themes and challenges.  Introductory and Intermediate Robotics (4th/5th grades) learn to build and program the Lego Mindstorms EV3 Robot.  Session fee of $185 includes 8 weekly meetings.  Fall Session will run from September 24th - November 14th, Winter Session from January 7th - February 27th, Spring Session from March 10th - May 13th.  For more information, please contact us at or visit our website at Registration for Spring Session opens February 18th.

 Math Olympiads

The Math Olympiads is a group for 5th grade students who are high achievers in math and who are interested in taking their skills further. These students are often the type who can think outside of the box in problem-based learning activities. A recent challenge given to the group was to set up a road trip. They were tasked with creating a master plan that included a route, how many miles would be traveled, where they were staying, what vehicles would be needed, how much gas would be required, how food would be worked out, and the budget for the entire trip. At the end of each academic year the group holds an awards ceremony highlighting the work and learning the group completed.
