Compass Learning Challenge Begins 12/8/14!

December 8, 2014

Dear Village Elementary Grade 2-5 parents,

Students in Grades 2 through 5 completed their NWEA Measures of Academic Performance (MAP) tests in fall and will be taking the assessments again in February 2015.  These Common Core assessments measure precise skills students need to concentrate on in reading, language arts, and math to reach expected grade level benchmarks.

We are excited to have the online educational software resource, Compass Learning, directly aligned with MAP.  This alignment provides students with individualized, highly interactive pathways specific to their areas of need.   Our school expectation is for students to spend a minimum of 15 minutes a night on their Compass Learning Pathway charted just for them!

The research shows an increase in mastery of grade level concepts when students spend an hour or more a week on their personalized Compass Learning Pathway designed just for them!  Please help support our school expectation by reminding your child to log on and do the work!  Teachers have sent home student user name and password information and we have it down below once more, if needed.

The challenge begins now!  Between now and the next MAP testing window in February, we are challenging students to increase their Compass Learning computer time!  Every minute counts!  The top ten students at each grade level who have the highest amount of time on Compass Learning will be treated to a special lunch at school by Mrs. DeSantis & Mr. Bevilacqua!   It is exciting to see the amount of minutes students have already completed this year!  WOW!  Keep up the great work.
